The Mekong River has its headwaters on the Tibetan Plateau, seventeen thousand feet above sea level. Coming down to China, it passes through Yunnan into Myanmar, and then meanders through much of the length of Laos, Dividing it from Thailand. It then cuts across the northern part of Cambodia and finally through Vietnam. It is almost three thousand miles long, making it the twelfth longest river in the world
