Factors Effecting Mothers Behaviors in Seeking Immunization for Their Children in Changwat Pattani Master. Education (Community Development Education)
The purpose of this study was to analyze the variables which can discriminate the groups of mothers behaviors in seeking immunization for their children either adequately immunized or inadequately immunized. The samples were composed of 226 mothers or women who cared for children born between January 1989 and September 1990. All of the subjects lived in Tumbol Manangdalum, Bangkao, Prajun and Kadoo in Changwat Pattani. There were 116 mothers whose children were inadequately immunized and 110 mothers whose children were adequately immunized. The data were collected by structured interviews and they were analyzed by using percentage, t-test and Discriminant Analysis. The analysis of data revealed that important discriminant variables for adequately immunized group were : 1. The sociocultural factors were the mothers high perception of usefulness of the vaccines and a good Thai communication. 2. The public health service factors were the mothers high perception of information on vaccination from the health station near the mothers homes and their possession of an appointment card. 3. The stimulated factors were of newspaper or book readership and greater television exposure. 4. Of the total factors considered there were the mothers high perception of information on vaccination from the health station near the mothers homes, a good Thai communication and their possession of an appointment card, respectively.
