CEWSS Jointly Organizing Women Empowerment Program: Accession to Justice and Economic Self-Reliance in COVID-19 Pandemic

Center of Excellence for Women and Social Security (CEWSS) in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Thailand and the Faculty of Political Science, Prince of Songkla University (Pattani Campus) has organized a project to empower women access to justice and economic self-reliance in the COVID-19 pandemic on the topic “Ending Domestic Violence and Empowering Women in the Upper Southern Region” on 1-2 October 2022 at Conference Room 4, 2nd Floor, Science and Technology Park Building, Walailak University
 
During the event, lectures and exchanges were made on ending legal challenges and best practices. The event sessions are the follows:
📖 “The rights of women, children and family members to the case of violence”
    by Supensri Phuengkhoksung, Director of the Social Equality Promotion Foundation
📖 “Hospital work and helping victims of domestic violence cases”
    By Worapat Saengkaew, Head of Medical Social Welfare Group, Pathum Thani Hospital
📖 “A Lawyer’s Perspective on the Process of Assisting Victims of Domestic Violence Cases” 
    by Kupatma Ali Katapo, lecturer in Major of Laws, Fatoni University
📖 “The legality of women and violence, a case study of the legal framework of Thailand”
    by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wachiraporn Poungjinda, lecturer, School of Laws, Walailak University
 
The exchange meetings in small groups on 4 issues:
Group 1: Good Practices for Outpost Operations
Group 2: Driving Public Policy and Laws to Fight Domestic Violence
Group 3: Building a system that responds to victims of domestic violence
Group 4: Access to Justice
 
Through the discussions and exchanges on these issues, participants gained knowledge and guidelines on how to deal with violence, as well as supporting the important forces in helping the front line work at a greater community level.
