Rationale

In today’s interconnected world, advancements in technology and communication have significantly enhanced human interaction and connectivity, both physically and online. Physical travel has become easier, with many countries relaxing transit visas, fostering international collaboration and economic growth. Simultaneously, online communication transcends geographical boundaries, creating a global village where individuals connect effortlessly. This phenomenon, starting in the 1990s, marked the era of globalization, intensifying economic, political, and cultural ties globally.

Communication involves verbal and non-verbal elements, requiring an understanding of grammar and cultural nuances for effective interaction. Miscommunication can lead to conflicts, emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding. Language learning promotes cultural competence, as culture and communication are intricately linked. The exchange of values and beliefs fosters understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.

Language carries historical and cultural significance, providing insights into societal beliefs and values. The Women’s Excellence Center and Social Security acknowledges the challenges of navigating multicultural societies and advocates for embracing diversity while fostering harmonious coexistence. Rather than emphasizing differences, the focus is on finding common ground and promoting unity amidst diversity, rejecting outdated assimilation policies in favor of mutual understanding and respect.

Objectives

  • To share insights on communication within society, culture, and the changing world. This aligns with the current transitional phase’s ongoing societal, cultural, and world shifts. The goal is to stimulate awareness and discuss emerging topics, considering them significant social phenomena.
  •  To facilitate knowledge exchange within Thailand and Southeast Asia through participation in international academic networks. This endeavor is geared towards fostering increased collaboration in educational pursuits.
